Amsterdam
Amsterdam, with its spiderweb-like network of parallel canals and its iconic houses, invites you to take a stroll.
Even if all its tall, narrow houses, lined up along the canals, are different, the architectural ensemble is strikingly harmonious.
It’s all in the many details that you have to take the time to observe.
The houses are decorated with stepped, bell-shaped, and collared gables. Many of them have a cantilevered beam and a hook protruding from the gable at roof height. They were used to transport goods to the upper levels of these buildings, which were then warehouses.
The spirit of Rembrandt, who knew how to transform light and shadow into art, watches over a city in perpetual change.
